Who are we?

We are the Dutchland Derby Rollers, a proud member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), and Lancaster, PA's premiere all women's roller derby league.  Our league is built on an 'A - B team' model.  The A team, the Dutchland All-Stars comprise the league's most accomplished skaters who compete at a national level with other leagues' teams at WFTDA-sanctioned bouts.  The B team, the Dutchland Blitz, compete against other leagues' teams at a more local level and acts as a training ground for skaters with less experience.  The rosters for each team are fluid as skaters are given the opportunity for movement between teams.  This structure offers the opportunity for a high level of competition both within the league as skaters strive to advance to the All-Stars and in performance against other teams as we are bring our best to every game, putting Lancaster roller derby onto the national map.

What is your name, number and tagline? Blue Scream of Death #1101
"Control, Assault, Delete"

When did you start playing Roller Derby? October, 2009

What positions do you normally play/like to play? Jammer. When I block I like to be in the back.

What do you love about Roller Derby? How anyone from any background, any body type, any athletic level can play. Not to mention how bad-ass it is. It proves that girls can hit just as hard as boys (in many cases harder).

What do you love about Dutchland? These girls are all so supportive and accepting, inside derby and out. I definitely wouldn't enjoy derby the way I do if it weren't for the people I do it with. I've always wanted a sister, and now I have almost 50!

Favorite Roller Derby moment? That would be a tie between being put on the All Star charter and finding out Dutchland is going to Regionals.

Most embarrassing Roller Derby moment? Falling during my first tryouts. It wasn't pretty.

There are only a handful of bouts left for the 2010 season! What are you looking forward to in the next few bouts? I'm hoping to play with the All Stars in a bout before the season ends. I also can't wait to play in my first home bout!

What is one piece of advice you could give to newer girls or those who are thinking about joining Roller Derby? Never, ever give up on it if you want it. It's going to hurt at first, but keep getting up and pushing through it. It's absolutely worth it. And don't be afraid to fall!

What is one thing that Roller Derby/Dutchland helped you achieve? I learned I can do anything if I set my mind to it, and that I actually enjoy exercise as long as I'm having fun doing it.

Anything you'd like to say to your adoring fans? Well I don't think I have any yet, but thank you to Momma and Poppa Of Death for coming to every bout and supporting me. And thank you to Boyfriend of Death for not thinking I'm crazy for doing this!
