LANCASTER, PA – The Dutchland All-Stars hosted Suburbia’s Suburban Brawl on Saturday, 4/16/11, at Overlook Activities Center. Suburbia recently bested DC, 100-92, while Dutchland enjoyed a victory over Maine, 156-104. Dutchland continues its 2011 winning streak, taking Suburbia down, 249-99.
The game started out neck and neck as Suburbia Jammers were able to grab lead in the first two jams, and call it 0-0 before Dutchland could score. In Jam 3, Dutchland’s Ruthless Ness was able to pick up 8 points, while her team’s defense circled Suburbia’s Lesley E. Visserate denying her from exit from the pack. Dutchland continued to stymie the Suburbia Jammers over the next few jams, keeping them off the board until jam 6 when Dina Sore Jr was able to grab 14-0. Both teams traded points over the next few jams and by jam 10, Dutchland led 42-20. Ruthless Ness was able to grab a 19-4 jam, capitalizing over a light Suburbia pack, including boxed Jammer Dina Sore Jr. Suburbia’s box trouble continued into the next jam with Dutchland’s Twisted Scizzors picking up another 13 points, though Dina was able to pick up 3 before the jam ended, leaving the score 78-27. Dutchland’s Skid Ho grabbed another 10 while her teammates, Rum N. Choke and Renegade Raven, held Suburbia’s Jammer in the pack for the full 2 minutes. In jam 14, Dutchland’s Nash Villain grabbed 9 points before being boxed for her 4th minor; Suburbia’s AWOL picked up 4 points, bringing the score to 97-31. In the next jam, Suburbia’s Blockers did an excellent job taking advantage of a full Dutchland box, keeping the two Dutchland Blockers away from Jammer, Domestic Violet, who was able to rack up a crucial and impressive 26 point jam. Ruthless Ness grabbed 10-0 over a boxed Harlot Bronte, followed up by a nice 20-0 jam by Skid Ho to end the period, 127-60 in Dutchland’s favor.
The first jam of the second period saw 2 devastating expulsions for the Suburbia squad. During her scoring pass, Dutchland’s Nash Villain went down hard, bleeding from the face, after a hit by Dina Sore Jr. The jam was called and reviewed by officials, after an extensive time out Dina was expelled for the hit which was dubbed a major elbow. In addition, during the mix of Nash’s injury, a major misconduct was called on Suburbia’s Suffah Kate for making contact with a referee, also resulting in an expulsion. Both teams scored neck and neck for the next few jams. After being cleared by the medics, Nash Villain returned in jam 7 and delivered a huge 28 point jam while AWOL was boxed for a low block, Dutchland now a solid 100 points ahead, 181-81. A few jams later, Dutchland’s White Thrash picked up 24 points, tipping her team over the 200 mark. Next up, Skid Ho grabbed another 9 points for Dutchland, while Suburbia’s IV Drop was only able to break the pack as the jam came to its natural conclusion. The final few jams looked more like the revolving Jammer game in the penalty box. In jam 14, Nash Villain picked up 2 points before going to the box as her Blockers held Suburbia scoreless. In the next jam, a major cut track call sent Suburbia Jammer, Harlot Bronte, to the box releasing Nash Villain. Villain returned to the track and almost immediately received a low block major, returned to the box releasing Bronte who then grabbed one point before the jam ended. In jam 16, Villain returned to the track and was again boxed for her 4th minor. Lesley E. Visserate took the star for Suburbia and was able to pick up 5 points before going to the box herself. With 1 second on the clock and Suburbia’s Jammer having just headed to the box, Dutchland called a timeout, forcing one more jam. Skid Ho quickly grabbed lead Jammer status, picked up 5 and called it off for a final score of 249-99.
Dutchland plays Providence and Connecticut in a weekend trip next month.
