Leah Loveless #AK47

Breakin’ hearts and Breakin’ Necks

First Bout?
2008 League Championship - Hex Offenders
Best Position?
Blocker 2 and 3
What brought you to DDR?
A love of the sport of roller derby and the desire to maim and kill initially brought me to DDR. I was lucky enough to become a member of a league whose members are not only strong and dedicated athletes who practice sportswomanship to the utmost, they are also empowered and classy women off the rink as well.
What keeps your wheels turning?
The constant support of my team and league mates keeps me motivated as well as my own determination.
What is your most embarrassing derby moment?
This hasn’t happened yet but I’m sure it will: falling during my skater introduction.
What is your proudest derby moment?
Any time I see a girl pick herself up off the floor after a check from me is a proud derby moment.
Got any injury stories?
Perpetual bruises and pulled muscles, jammed fingers, and also some pretty gnarly knees.
Impress us with your skating skills…
I’m a pretty solid blocker: good steers, hard hits, and lots of swimming. I try to keep my booty on someone at all times.
Derby props?
Skates: Riedell R3
Wheels: Answer Tantrums
Protective Gear: Scabs/Pro-tec/Shock doctor
Must-Haves: Knee braces
Send out some heart-felt derby love to your peeps…
I would like to thank all the OG’s for their advice, knowledge, support, and most of all patience — especially Mary TMOG who was my coach when I was a Skater Tot and of course my wonderful Skater Mama Laverne N. Surly who was always offering advice and cheering me on.
Thanks to my friends and family (especially Mom) for supporting myself and the league and extra special thanks for coming and screaming their heads off at the bouts!
