When did you start playing Roller Derby?
I started skating January 2014.
What positions do you normally play/like to play?
Jammer and pivot
What do you love about Roller Derby?
The pure athleticism and uniqueness of the sport. It’s both aggressive and strategic.
What do you love about Dutchland?
All my fellow Duchies and surrounding community of awesome people. To be surrounded by such a hard-working, talented, and supportive group of people has been such a blessing and inspiration.
Favorite Roller Derby moment?
My first home game. It was my first time jamming, first MVP, and first time my friends and family got to see what I had spent the better part of a year working towards.
Most embarrassing Roller Derby moment?
Any time my skate falls apart during a game. It’s happened twice this year…
What is one piece of advice you could give to newer girls or those who are thinking about joining Roller Derby?
Do it. If you have even a little interest just come to a few practices. I was on the fence for so long before I finally went to the info meeting. My only regret has been not doing it sooner.
What is one thing that Roller Derby/Dutchland helped you achieve?
To trust in myself. I am more capable and can do more than I give myself credit for.
What has Roller Derby taught you?
There are certain limitations I face because of my body type, but then there are certain attributes to it as well. Derby has taught me to focus on what I can work towards and to play to my strengths.
Anything you'd like to say to your adoring fans?
Hi! And thanks for supporting Roller Derby.
