When did you start playing Roller Derby?
I started skating January 2014.
What positions do you normally play/like to play?
What do you love about Roller Derby?
In roller derby you play to your strengths. No matter your size or shape, you are able to develop a style of skating that works with your body and skill level and are able to grow from there.
What do you love about Dutchland?
My teammates, and the whole Dutchland family. I couldn't ask for a better community to be apart of.
Favorite Roller Derby moment?
My first (home) game. It was my first rostered game and first time jamming for the Crush. My friends and family were able to come out and watch, and see what I had been working toward the past year. I was voted MVP.
Most embarrassing Roller Derby moment?
Falling on my skate -- Hard. It was so bad that I had to explain to my coworkers why I was sitting & walking funny. I worked standing at my desk for three days.
What is one piece of advice you could give to newer girls or those who are thinking about joining Roller Derby?
Do it, try out! The only thing I regret was not starting sooner. And just keep going. You will fall, you will be frustrated, you will be sore, but you will get better. I'm able to do things now on skates I thought I'd never be able to do.
What is one thing that Roller Derby/Dutchland helped you achieve?
A sense of accomplishment, and making me feel more comfortable in my own body.
What has Roller Derby taught you?
Discipline, and working as a team.
Anything you'd like to say to your adoring fans?
Thanks for all your support! You help keep the sport of Roller Derby going strong!
