"You'll have to read between the lines to see her coming."

When did you start playing Roller Derby?
I passed tryouts in July 2013.
What positions do you normally play/like to play?
I'm primarily a jammer and I love it, but I'm working on becoming a better blocker.
What do you love about Roller Derby?
Everything. It's the first sport that I've ever fallen in love with - I love practicing, I love bouting, and I love my teammates!
What do you love about Dutchland?
From day one, everyone was so accepting and helpful. Dutchland has such a feel-good vibe.
Favorite Roller Derby moment?
Playing in my first home bout as a member of the Crush. I was so nervous, and it was a really tough bout, but I was proud of how I played.
What is your most embarrassing derby moment?
I'm not the most coordinated person, so I routinely fall on my butt while just standing still, and occasionally take teammates down with me.
What is one piece of advice you could give to newer girls or those who are thinking about joining Roller Derby?
There are going to be some days that you just won't be on top of your game. That's okay. If you have the motivation to keep getting up when you're knocked down and the drive to succeed, you will improve.
What is one thing that Roller Derby/Dutchland helped you achieve?
Emotional health. When every other aspect of life is stressing me out, roller derby is there to remind me that I'm strong and capable.
What has Roller Derby taught you?
That I can try something totally new and difficult and enjoy the process of learning and improving.
Anything you'd like to say to your adoring fans?
Hearing you cheer gives me strength. Thank you for believing in me!
