Udderly devastating...
- What is your name, number and tagline?
- My name is Milk Maiden and my number is 1212. My number used to be 1/2 & 1/2 before we did away with fractions.
- When did you start playing Roller Derby?
- I started playing with the Lehigh Valley Roller Girls in the summer of 2008.
- What positions do you normally play/like to play?
- I play blocker one, up front with the pivot. I love partnering and working with my teammates to keep a jammer at a stand still. I really enjoy jamming also, and it would be awesome to get a chance to do that some day.
- What do you love about Roller Derby?
- Everything!
- What do you love about Dutchland?
- Dutchland is my second family. Everyone on this league works incredibly hard on the track and off to make the league a success. We celebrate each other's achievements and support each other when we're struggling. I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing league.
- Favorite Roller Derby moment?
- I have so many, but I love when our team work is really clicking and we are able to implement skills we have been working on during a bout. It feels good to see our hard work paying off.
- Most embarrassing Roller Derby moment?
- Nothing's really embarrassing when you're in derby mode.
- Dutchland’s 2011 season is in full swing and it’s looking good! What are you looking forward to in the next few bouts?
- I look forward to the All Stars continuing to bond and gel as a team. It would also be great to go into the Regional Championship undefeated. We can do it!
- What is one piece of advice you could give to newer girls or those who are thinking about joining Roller Derby?
- Trust your coaches and your teammates and their feedback. Everyone gets discouraged in a sport where there is so much to learn. Don't let being discouraged hold you back. Learn from your mistakes and keep on pushing yourself. It's totally worth it.
- What is one thing that Roller Derby/Dutchland helped you achieve?
- Derby has helped me achieve a respect for my body and what it is capable of. I have been constantly pushed beyond my comfort zone and learn something new every time I skate. It's pretty cool to think about how far I have come and see that I can achieve goals that I set for myself.
- What has Roller Derby taught you?
- We are lucky to have the most amazing coaches. I have learned so much from them about what it takes to be a part of a successful team. That it's not all about me and what I can or can't do on my own, and that is very humbling. No one girl wins a game by herself and no one girl loses a game by herself. The better we play as a unit, the more we win. We're either all super stars together, or we're not.
- Anything you’d like to say to your adoring fans?
- Dutchland fans are the best! You're support is what allows us to do what we love. Thank you.
