I am still trying them all... Looking for my best fit. I'd like to be a good Jammer someday, but recently found I'm a pretty decent Blocker 3.
What do you love about Roller Derby?
It allows me to get my aggression out in a positive way.
What do you love about Dutchland?
Everything! Dutchland is so supportive & encouraging. A great workout that is fun & makes you feel like you can accomplish anything. Working closely with awesome people who make me feel stronger both physically & mentally.
Favorite Roller Derby moment?
So far, hitting out an opposing Jammer several times in our June 2013 bout.
Most embarrassing Roller Derby moment?
Come out to a Bout & see if you catch a new one! For now, it was Jamming & not hearing/seeing my coaches tell me to call it off when I was lead.
Dutchland's 2013 season is in full swing and it's looking good! What are you looking forward to in the next few bouts?
Hmmm... Better EVERYTHING! We have lots of practice time until the next few bouts. Hoping to have more endurance, better agility & make the most of it!
What is one piece of advice you could give to newer girls or those who are thinking about joining Roller Derby?
Do it! There is nothing to lose & plenty to gain, like strength, confidence & a supportive community of fellow Dutchies.
What is one thing that Roller Derby/Dutchland helped you achieve? (ie: great work outs, friendship, confidence)
I can't say it enough...This sport has transformed my life. I am a very shy person by nature, but when I get out on the rink I feel so much more unleashed. So many opportunities for bettering myself have evolved out of this. I plan to do my first 5k/obstacle run this summer. Without Dutchland I would have never thought I could do it.
What has Roller Derby taught you?
Work hard, play hard. This is a serious sport, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun!
Anything you'd like to say to your adoring fans?
Thank you so much! To my family & friends & neighbors who come out to support me every bout. To my co-workers who ask me about derby. A special shout out to Scott & Brittany Flickinger for the best fan poster I've ever seen.
