When did you start playing Roller Derby?
I first started playing roller derby in October 2014 with the Reading Derby Girls.
What positions do you normally play/like to play?
Now that I’ve been playing, I prefer to jam, although blocking is where I started. I want to play all the positions so I can be an asset to my team.
What do you love about Roller Derby?
What I love about roller derby is that it allows me to channel all of my energy into an athletic and healthy way. Plus I get to hit people and that's pretty fun too!
What do you love about Dutchland?
I love my new home. Dutchland is where it is at! I love the camaraderie, the team values, the positivity and how as adults, and no matter what is going on in our personal lives, we build each other up every practice. No one is left behind.
Favorite Roller Derby moment?
After skating with Dutchland’s All-Stars this season, my favorite derby moment was getting lead jammer in our first bout of the season. When I saw my name on the scoreboard, blinking the lead jammer status, it was the best feeling in the world.
Most embarrassing Roller Derby moment?
My most embarrassing derby moment to date would be losing bladder control after a big hit. Luckily, no one noticed!
What is one piece of advice you could give to newer girls or those who are thinking about joining Roller Derby?
For anyone who wants to try out, I say DO IT. You may discover your full potential as an athlete and a valuable teammate. Derby is built on a diverse group of women that want to play a sport where they are valued, respected and taken seriously.
What is one thing that Roller Derby/Dutchland helped you achieve?
Roller derby has helped me to achieve the confidence I needed to be more outspoken regarding issues in both my personal and professional life. Dutchland especially has taught me the value of teamwork- both on and off the track. They have welcomed me with respect and value my input as a member of their organization. As a professional, this is key.
What has Roller Derby taught you?
Overall, roller derby has taught me that if I want something in my life, I have to go out and get it. Perseverance proves others wrong and gets the results you want.
Anything you'd like to say to your adoring fans?
For the fans, thank you for coming out to support my team!
